September 2017 - New York City - Bold, fearless and determined, there is a Viking  man in us all waiting to be awakened. This August, The House of Creed introduces the masterfully crafted Viking, a fiery men’s fragrance that bottles the fearless spirit of boundless exploration for the modern man who goes against the grain. Viking was inspired by the incredibly crafted longships, a centrepiece of the Viking Age and one of the greatest design feats of the ninth century. A symbol of voyage and undeniable perseverance, longships were carefully designed for the skilled seaman who embodied unbridled determination to conquer. Viking is the brand’s first major men’s scent since the introduction of the cult best-selling Aventus in 2010.

“To me, Viking is extraordinary,” shares Olivier Creed, Sixth Generation Master Perfumer for The House of Creed. “I wanted to create a totally new men’s fragrance that would capture a different spirit than our Aventus, which stands for success and power. Being on the sea is my passion. I’ve always been fascinated by the architecture of longships and the people who sailed them. I was inspired by the unwavering commitment to discovering new territory, both physically and metaphorically.”

The Viking man lives life full of purpose and never settles. He pushes himself to be fearless in all aspects of his journey with the grit and vigour to break boundaries – all in pursuit of the challenge and his thirst for discovery.

This powerful scent opens with notes of Calabrian bergamot, Sicilian lemon, and La Réunion baie rose (also known as pink peppercorn). The middle notes are filled with peppercorn, Bulgarian rose, and peppermint. The fragrance finishes with Indian sandalwood, Haitian vetiver, Indian patchouli, and lavandin absolute.

The Viking bottle is a striking, fiery red – the color of passion and Olivier’s favorite – paired with modern silver accents. The bottle was designed in partnership with Pochet de Courval, the nearly 400-year-old luxury glass maker outside of Paris and the House of Creed’s long-time collaborator, and created with their signature handcrafted process. The leather-inspired etching is paired with an illustration of a Viking longship and is topped with Creed’s essential finishing touch: the hand-stamped cap with the coveted Creed plume.

Viking debuts exclusively at Creed Boutiques and Creedboutique.com in September, rolling out to Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman in October.

About The House of Creed

It began as a bottle of Royal English Leather commissioned by King George III after becoming enamoured with a pair of Creed scented gloves. Passed from father to son for seven generations since its London founding in 1760 by James Henry Creed, The House of Creed has been handcrafting uncommon fragrances for royal houses and discerning patrons for over 250 years. As the only fragrance house to rely on an ancient infusion technique to capture the raw and rare materials of each perfume, Creed has created a legacy of unrivaled scents, both commissioned and worn by history and Hollywood’s greatest names. Based out of Paris today, each scent is weighed, mixed, macerated and filtered all by hand in the highest tradition of the House's founder, James Creed. Today, sixth generation and master perfumer Olivier Creed and his son, Erwin Creed, carry on the craft from their Parisian laboratory continuing the art of Creed's perfume making—a timeless, yet modern take on history, bottled.
